According to Central Region Police Commander Larry Kieng’, the men went to the bank at about 7am am where they were ushered in by the Operations Manager and other staff.
It is then that they brandished a knife and a panga, demanded access to the strong room where they stashed the money into three sacks and drove off in a saloon car.
“Our officers were informed immediately and went to the scene. They are already pursuing the vehicle and by the end of the day we are likely to get somewhere,” he said.
Police said they have launched a manhunt for the three thugs and are interrogating bank staff as part of the investigations.
“Nobody was injured during the incident. The safe was systematically opened,” he said. “We are following some leads.”
Police are also using CCTV cameras installed in the bank for the ongoing investigations.
No arrests have so far been made.
