Go ahead and issue 288,000 letters to teachers, TSC dared

An attempt by KNUT’s lawyers to have the matter transferred to Justice Nduma Nderi who awarded the between 50 and 60 percent pay increase also failed when Justice Abuotha indicated that the matter can be heard by any judge.

The court had declared that the ongoing teachers strike was not properly called and therefore not protected by law.

The observation had been made by Lady Justice Monica Mbaru in a case filed by the Teachers Service Commission which is accusing the Kenya National Union of Teachers of violating the law in the ongoing strike.

TSC insists that KNUT did not serve it with a notice as required by law before urging teachers to strike, paralysing learning in all public schools.
