Twitter use gets Chief Kariuki invite to Belgium meet

NAIROBI, Kenya, Jul 17 – Chief Francis Kariuki of Nakuru North Sub County has been invited to attend an international conference in Brussels, Belgium.

The invitation extended by the Speak@Crowdsourcing (CSW) Week is based on his efforts in using social media to rally his community to participate in issues affecting them.

“The invitation is premised on the officer’s strength and success in use of social media – Twitter – to mobilise community of Lanet-Umoja Location, “a letter sent to the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government stated.

The conference will take place from October 19 to 23, 2015.

CSW has pledged to foot travel and accommodation expenses for the chief.

He will be participating and sharing his ideas and experiences in the use of social media to develop and manage communities.

Chief Kariuki who has attracted local and international attention is recognised for his efforts in using social media to fight crime in his community.

His simplicity and language of communicating to the local people serious information also tickles other readers.

Chief Kariuki has previously received several other international invitations to attend conferences in the last three years.
