NAIROBI, Kenya, Jul 27 – In true Kenyans on Twitter (KOT) fashion a hashtag, #SomeoneTellCNN, preceded his arrival and a hashtag, #NowThatObamaIsGone marked his exit.

And again in typical KOT fashion, it was a mix of humour and more serious fare.

@AKenyanJourno for instance wanted to know, “Where were we on Moses Kuria exactly?”

The Director of Public Prosecutions having challenged Kuria’s release on bond as he’s accused of calling for the assault of those opposed to National Youth Service projects, in suspected contravention of the terms of his release.

The hashtag was also employed to reminisce over the most memorable moments of US President Barack Obama’s visit to Kenya.

“#NowThatObamaIsGone Uhuru has a new name… (Kenyarra),” @IrunguKevin tweeted.

@innocentwacheke couldn’t resist taking a jibe at CNN, “#NowThatObamaIsGone @CNN have no content #whattodo.”

And just as KOT did with #SomeoneTellCNN, @NajivuniaUkenya used #NowThatObamaIsGone to showcase @BrandKenya:

“#NowThatObamaIsGone don’t forget that Kenya is a hotbed of vibrant culture and spectacular sceneries #TembeaKenya.”

Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero’s efforts to hasten the beautification of the capital ahead of Obama’s visit, weren’t forgotten either.

“The Kidero grass can now grow without any pressure 🙂 #NowThatObamaIsGone,” @DjSoxxy tweeted.

There were even some take-aways for President Uhuru Kenyatta from Obama’s visit mixed in there.

“#NowThatObamaIsGone @PresidentKE start flyg 2 JKIA by Kenya’s Marine/Navy one etc 2 avoid causg trafic jam @Ma3Route @OleItumbi,” @BarasaJoseph tweeted.

That wasn’t the only challenge thrown at the Head of State with @TheBahati raising concerns over insecurity.

“#NowThatObamaIsGone the heavy police presence will disappear and once again security will begin with you.”

@BarasaJoseph was convinced that, “#NowThatObamaIsGone We r likely 2 see most matatus branded the Beast, Marine one & Airforce one.”

But the list wouldn’t be complete without some relationship humour thrown in there.

“#NowThatObamaIsGone, a girl has turned me down by telling me that I am a non-issue,” @Frakah jokingly tweeted.
