, NAIROBI, Kenya, July 7 – The Kiambu County Government is set to rehabilitate hundreds of youth addicted to illicit brews in the area.

According to the Health County Executive Committee Jonah Mwangi, this will help detoxify them off the high level of alcohol which has accumulated in the body.

Mwangi stated that the biggest challenge is how to make the young men productive in the society as most of the brews which had made them redundant have now been destroyed.

Governor William Kabogo further pointed out that he has been taking the front row in the fight against alcoholism in the county.

He stated that he was the first to withdraw licenses for all wines and spirits outlets even before the president ordered the confiscation of second hand generation products.

He was speaking at the Gatundu Level 4 hospital while issuing appointment letters to 50 new nurses where he ordered the sacking of hospital staff who have been sending patients to private institutions for X -Ray services.

He also directed that the issuance of receipts at night which was being done manually to be automated.

On matters alcohol Kabogo cautioned people who have been criticizing him for not doing enough to fight alcoholism in the county.

Meanwhile residents of Gatundu will enjoy better services when the ultra modern hospital is opened in September, the new maternity wing is built by Chinese government.

Half of the nurses who were given their letter of appointment will work at Gatundu hospital while the rest will be distributed in the county.
