NAIROBI, Kenya, Jul 29 – National Police Service Inspector-General Joseph Boinnet has ordered anyone in possession of an armoured vehicle to declare it immediately and obtain mandatory approval.

Boinnet says action will be taken against anyone found to have imported an armoured vehicle or assembled it in Kenya if they did not meet requirements of the law.

In an advertisement appearing in local dailies, Boinnet says all armoured vehicles must meet requirements of the newly enacted Security Laws (Amendment) Act 2014 which states that such vehicles must have special certificates from the government.

Several high profile government and business personalities are known to use armoured vehicles.
