We should discourage politics of animosity – Ruto

He said the problems facing cotton; sugar and fishing sectors in the area would be solved if the Sh5billion that Siaya County would receive this financial year would be utilized in accordance with the needs of the people.

“As National and County governments, it is our duty to make sure local priorities are taken care of,” said Ruto

He said the Government would upgrade Siaya and Bondo hospitals to status of referral at a cost of Sh425million and Sh380million respectively.

“ In a move to taking services closer to the people, we have resolved to upgrade two hospitals in every County to the status of referral fully equipped with ICU, MRI, cancer and kidney facilities and dialysis among others,” he said.

The Deputy President said the Government would also use Sh300million in the improvement of technical institutions in Bondo and another Sh50million in the expansion of Siaya institute of technology.

“We are using Sh100million each in the construction and equipping of Unguja and Ugenya technical training institutes to cater for the technological needs of the people,” he said.

Ochanda assured the Deputy President that residents in the area were ready and willing to support the Government noting that the economic situation of the region was deteriorating.

“You should not fear coming to this area. We are ready to work with the Government on matters of development,” he said.

He said time for politics was over and leaders should now focus on development.

Former Minister Raphael Tuju urged Nyanza residents to support the Government if development has to be realized in the area.

The Deputy President also addressed wananchi at Mbeka primary school in Bondo Constituency.
