Nairobi, Kenya Jun 20 – As Muslim faithfuls across the country mark the holy month Ramadhan, Airtel Kenya has donated water and dates to 20 Mosques and Mama Fatuma children’s home in Nairobi.

The handover event that took place at Jamia Mosque in Nairobi was graced by Airtel Kenya CEO Adil El Youssefi and Jamia Mosque chairman Mohammed Osman Warfa and senior Muslim leaders from the 20 Mosques.

Also in attendance were Airtel directors and members of staff.

The company announced that it will also support Muslim faithfuls at Jamia Mosque with an Iftar dinner every Friday throughout the holy month of Ramadhan.

For the second year again, the company will also give its boost towards the Jamia Mosque education program. This initiative is part of the company’s longstanding commitment to continue strengthening its ties with the local community, as it continues with its business operations in the country.

In a statement, Airtel Kenya CEO Adil El Youssefi said; “Ramadan is a special time for the Muslim community world over and in Kenya. The support will go a long way in helping the Muslim communities in various parts of Nairobi as they break their fast during this holy month. It is our desire to continue engaging our brothers and sisters who profess the Islamic faith.”

Adil expressed his confidence that the company will continue to keep its promise of providing customers with the best quality of products and services while creating stronger ties with the community.

The CEO urged Muslim faithfuls to take advantage of the tailored made special tariff during this holy month, which will give Muslim followers an option of subscribing to the Ramadhan bundle for only Sh30 by dialing *767*86#. They will also be able to receive prayer alerts on their mobile phone by dialing 0900 730786 or sending a short message with the word ‘START’ to 30786 to subscribe to the Islamic Portal. Through the portal, subscribers will be able to receive Qur’an recitations, prayer alerts, listen to Khutbah and prayers live from Mekka.

The beneficiaries of the donation are Shauri moyo Mosque, Lindi Mosque- Kibera, Munawar Mosque-Kibera, Ayany Mosque-Kibera, Makina Mosque-Kibera, Muthurwa B (CBD) Mosque, Mathare North Mosque, Githurai 44 Mosque, Githurai 45 Mosque, Kamiti Prisons Mosque, Ibn Qayyim mosque-Umoja 2, Masjid Noor – Riruta, Twaiba Mosque Kawangware, Madina Mosque- Kayole, Masimba Mosque Kayole, Ibn Qayyim Mosque- Umoja 2, Umoja Mosque ,Dandora Ph. IV Mosque, Aisha Center-Tigoni, Umm-Ibrahim Mosque Kasarani, Mama Fatuma Home.
