EACC will Monday submit files on 4 CSs to DPP

Koskei (Agriculture) inquiry looks into the alleged irregular leasing of Kenya Veterinary Vaccine Production Institute (KEVEVAPI) land at Tigoni, Kiambu County.

He said 56 out of 124 files have been analyzed, while 21 of which have been forwarded to the DPP.

Thirty-five files are currently undergoing evidence analysis by the commission’s legal team and will be forwarded to the DPP in due course.

“The DPP has made decisions in these cases where he has either directed suspects to be charged in court, administrative action taken of recommended closure of files. Following DPP’s directions, the Commission has arraigned in court, 19 public officers and will in the next few days be arraigning 29 suspects in various parts of the county including, Turkana, Machakos, Nyamira, Nairobi and Trans-Nzoia,” he said.

The remaining 68 cases are under active investigation and the Commission is doing its utmost to finalize the same.

Waqo at the same time noted that it will not be possible to finalise investigations into the corruption allegations within the 60 days timeline given by President Uhuru Kenyatta during his state of the nation address to Parliament in April.

“The days that we need, cannot be put succinctly be put numerically; because the fact about investigations is that you cannot have a clear cut date or timeline where you can clearly always delay. But soon we are going to clear with them and finalize with them,” the EACC Secretary stated.
