NAIROBI, Kenya, May 13 – The High Court has barred the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission from prosecuting Murang’a Governor Mwangi wa Iria until an application he filed is heard and determined.

The orders were issued by Justice Mumbi Ngugi, effectively restraining the EACC detectives from arresting the embattled governor.

The Judge has directed the matter be heard in the presence of all the parties on June 8.

She has directed that the orders be served upon the Director of Public Prosecutions, EACC as well as Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet.

EACC is seeking to prosecute wa Iria for allegedly giving its officers false information when he was seeking clearance to vie for the gubernatorial seat.
