Police urged motorists to seek alternative routes in the area which was also flooded following Sunday’s heavy downpour. 
NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 27- There was heavy traffic near the Taj Mall in Embakasi after a train dislodged and blocked the road.
Nairobi Traffic Commandant Edward Mwamburi told Capital FM News that motorists could use Mombasa Road since the flooding that was experienced along the route had been cleared.
“Engineers have already cleared the flooding….the area near Imara Daima and Total petrol station is also cleared,” he said.
Alternatively, he said motorists could use the Eastern By-pass.
The Nairobi County Government has also been alerted and engineers from the county are on various roads trying and unblock drainage systems.
The problem started on Sunday night after a heavy downpour in the city.
Other than major roads being impassable, the Central Business District was also flooded.
