KAJIADO, Kenya, Mar 9 – President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto Monday led Jubilee Alliance Party leaders on a tour of Kajiado Central Constituency where they asked residents to vote for the party’s candidate in next Monday’s by-election.

Their first stop was Namanga town where they addressed a public rally, where local politicians also spoke.

President Kenyatta and the Deputy President led the push to boost campaigns for Patrick ole Tutui who in 2013 came second to Cabinet Secretary (Rtd) Major General Joseph Nkaissery.

The by-election was called after President Kenyatta picked Nkaissery to become a Cabinet Secretary.

“We need leaders in Parliament who are ready to work for the people and not those who will engage in needless wrangles,” President Kenyatta said.

He told Namanga residents that the government plans to develop the town so that it becomes an important economic zone playing a bigger role in Kenya and Tanzania.

The Government has already upgraded the road leading out of the town and the construction of modern customs offices is nearing completion.

The Deputy President urged the residents to vote for the Jubilee candidate because he will be part of a dependable team that is motivated by a desire to develop the country.

“The difference between Jubilee and CORD is like day and night. While Jubilee leaders are busy working for Kenyans, all that CORD politicians do is engage in insults, demonstrations and throwing stones,” he said.

Leader of Majority in the National Assembly Aden Duale urged locals to vote for the Jubilee candidate because the party was focused on development.

“Our politics is based on development and is not petty like the others,” he said.

Tutui said the people have appreciated the fact that the Namanga town was boosted with several development projects since the Jubilee Government came into power.

“We thank you for appointing Nkaissery as a Cabinet Secretary and the people have told me that they will show their appreciation on Monday next week,” he said. Ole Tutui called on voters to turn up in large numbers and vote for him.

Mandera North MP Adan Mohamed Noor said Kajiado County was supposed to be like Mandera County where all elected leaders belong to Jubilee.

“Kajiado had a few spots and now you have an opportunity to make it uniform,” he said.
Kajiado Senator Peter Mositet said the people of Kajiado were offended by the language used by one of the CORD leaders against Nkaissery.

“It will be a shame for Kajiado if Tutui does not win. Let us come out in large numbers and show our disapproval of their disrespect for the General,” he said.

The President also spoke at Maili Tisa and Ngatataek. He was to address other public rallies at Bisil and Kajiado.

More than 22 Members of Parliament were in the entourage.
