, NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 23 – Imenti Central Member of Parliament Gideon Mwiti has said he is ready to undergo medical tests to disprove rape allegations he’s facing.
The MP who spent about six hours on Monday recording a statement at the Gigiri Police Station said the allegations are malicious and only the ‘victim’ could explain her motive.
“Those allegations are false,” he said while explaining that police were already investigating the matter and soon, the truth would emerge.
The MP recounted that he met the woman on Saturday at around 6pm at Pizza Garden in Westlands before moving to a pub he owns opposite Krishna Centre at around 9.30pm.
The legislator further claimed that they did not go to his office on the material day as alleged by the woman. “No, I don’t have an office opposite Bandari in Westlands.”
“I have an office in Krishna Centre on 3rd floor. The bar is opposite Krishna Centre and there is no time she went to my office that day,” he explained.
He alleged that he was in the company of many other people mostly his constituents from Imenti Central.
“People were even singing there, there was no disagreement at all, I am telling you people from my constituency were there singing,” he added.
This followed claims by a woman that she was assaulted up and raped by the MP at his private office in Westlands on Saturday night when she had gone for a business meeting.
The woman alleges she was also forced to undergo a HIV test.
Police have already questioned the woman who is undergoing treatment at the Nairobi Women’s Hospital as well as her husband who is well known to the MP.
“I am continuing with treatment… I am yet to receive the results. I have done scans,” the woman told Capital FM News.
