NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 13 – Gunmen have attacked the convoy of Mandera Governor Ali Roba, hijacking one of his vehicles.

Several people in the convoy are reported to have sustained injuries but the governor was not hurt.

The attack which occurred on Arabia-Omar road is the second after a similar attack targeted his convoy late last year.

A major security operation is currently underway in Mandera, following reports the attack may have been staged by Al Shabaab militants or their sympathisers who are likely to flee to the neighbouring Somalia.
