Chairman David Musila indicated that the seven were kicked out of the party for failing to respect Wiper’s position regarding the impeachment of their county leaders.
Musila said that the five nominate members expelled from Machakos were Ndinda Mbithe, Margaret Ndalana, Jackline Nziva, Ruth Ndumi and Mary Ndinda Paul.
“The Governing council has endorsed the expulsion of the above nominated members of the Machakos County Assembly for failing to respect the position of the party concerning the impeachment of the Machakos Deputy Governor,” he said.
The expulsion of the majority leaders means that they have been stripped of their posts in their respective County Assemblies.
The party’s new Deputy Majority Leader in Makueni is Jonathan Ndugi while Martin Mutuku takes over as Chief Whip and Lizer Zacharia as Deputy Chief Whip.
Musila emphasized the expulsion would serve as a warning that the party will no longer tolerate indiscipline.
“Through these expulsions, the party is sending a very clear message that from now on, the party will not tolerate any indiscipline and that the party will be observing strict rules to make sure that the members follow the rules and guidelines,” he stated.
Mwonga was expelled for fighting in public, while Mutuku was expelled for leading an impeachment motion against Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana.
The five MCAs were kicked out for failing to respect the party position in regard to the impeachment of Machakos Deputy Governor Benard Kiala.
The party, however, said it would not expel any of its governors, though some were contravening rules.
“We do not have the luxury of governors to expel. There have been reports that there will be more impeachments but what we want is for the counties of Machakos and Makueni to settle and deliver services to the people,” party leader Kalonzo Musyoka stated.
At the same time, the party announced it would field its own candidate in the next General Election.
