MPs give Nkaissery 72 hours to nab Muchai killers

“There has to come a time when we shall see whether we are getting value for the taxes that we pay. If it is Nairobi City, the CCTV has been installed, that is a lot of money, probably that money could have been translated to the Health ministry or a water project—why should we put millions to the City streets with CCTV which cannot even catch a chicken?” quipped Wanjiku Muhia, a member of the committee.

Kamama cited the example of the attack on the Paris office of French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, where 12 people were killed, and where CCTV surveillance footage captured the events and helped in the nabbing of the suspects saying the committee would be visiting the Command center to understand its operations.

They urged the bodies charged with investigating the matter to probe all theories advanced since the Saturday killings to ensure Kenyans get to know the truth.

His sentiments were reiterated by his colleagues who urged that urgent action be taken to beef up security not only for VIPs and state officers but generally around the country in the wake of the escalating insecurity situation.

“We must invest in public security and our VIPs will be secure,” said another committee member.

And as Parliament resumes its sittings Tuesday, it is expected that a motion on the country’s security situation will be tabled on the floor of the House, aside from the condolence message to the families of the Kabete MP, His driver and two bodyguards.

Muchai was killed on Saturday morning alongside two of his bodyguards and a driver while driving home from Westlands where they had been attending a function.
