In a statement sent to newsrooms, Nkaissery also lifted the curfew in Lamu Island that was imposed over 5 months ago saying the new orders only applied to Lamu mainland which was worst hit during the Mpeketoni attacks where over 100 people were killed.
“Every person residing within Lamu County mainland is directed to remain indoors during the period the curfew orders is in force except under and in accordance with terms and conditions of a written permit granted by the Lamu County Police Commander,” read part of the statement.
The curfew imposed following the Mpeketoni massacre in July has been now extended four times an issue residents have not taken lightly.

Residents who claim the curfew has greatly affected their livelihoods as the economy of the county which relies on tourism has been on a downward spiral as tourists are afraid to visit the area.
Hotels which were destroyed in the attacks are yet to be rebuilt as compensation promises have yet to be actualized.
Lamu County governor Issa Timamy has claimed that over Sh500 million in revenue has been lost since the curfew was imposed.
