MURANGA, Kenya, Nov 24 – An Administration Police officer is behind bars after he was caught allegedly having sex with a 14-year-old girl in Kiharu, Muranga county.

The girl’s mother caught the officer following days of suspicion that he had been luring the daughter who recently sat for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations.

“The officer had asked me to fetch water for him. He then slept with me but my mom knocked on the door after a few minutes,” the hapless teenager told reporters.

The mother raised alarm and a crowd soon gathered wanting to lynch the police officer. The cop however escaped after the chief and local County Representative arrived and urged the crowd to wait for police officers who came and arrested their comrade.

“The crowd was charged and in fact there was fracas prompting officers to fire in the air. But the suspect has been taken to the police station together with the girl and her mother,” area chief John Karumba said.

The chief however added that the teenager had had a poor record at school with several cases linking her to school unrest.
“We had been called to (her) school a number of times for cases involving her; she had indiscipline issues,” said Karumba.

The Mucunguca Ward MCA Joseph Njoroge said they will pursue the case to its logical conclusion and ensure that appropriate legal and administrative action is taken on the police officer.

“We want him to be arraigned in court and immediately removed from this posting,” he demanded.
