Ethuro hints at reconciliatory talks with Judiciary

“The decision to impeach Wambora was taken by this House, and therefore I could not as a chair of a committee re-introduce Wambora into these precincts of Parliament into proceedings of this Senate without the same Senate which removed him having vacated that position. If he so wishes to sue me, I would gladly face him in court because I would be defending the Senate which I was elected to, Mr Speaker”.

Three weeks ago Khalwale sent away a delegation of County Executive members sent by Wambora to respond to audit queries saying the Senate did not recognize him (Wambora) as Governor, and instead summoned the deputy governor Dorothy Nditi to appear.

“We shall move in accordance with the law. In the absence of the Governor, it is the Deputy who takes over. Nditi must appear before us on October 30, because in the eyes of the Senate, she is the Governor,” said Khalwale in his ruling.

It is not the first time Parliament and the Judiciary are at loggerheads. Two weeks ago, the Speaker of the National Assembly Justin Muturi had accused the Judiciary of undermining the role of Parliament in legislation by issuing injunctions and orders curtailing the implementation of laws passed by Parliament.
