NAIROBI Kenya, Oct 7- Former celebrated Nairobi town clerk John Gakuo has resigned from Evans Kidero’s County Government where he served as the Executive in charge of environment, natural resources, water and energy.

And it was a double blow for Kidero as his Executive Committee Member for Health, Timothy Kingondu, also resigned on Tuesday prompting changes to the county government.

In a statement, Kidero announced a mini reshuffle in his cabinet putting Evans Ondieki in charge of Environment and Mohammed Abdullahi as Roads, Transport and Public Works executive member.

“The Nairobi City County Government (NCCG) has and continues to make deliberate effort and a strategy in ensuring service delivery to Nairobians as is expected and required,” he stated.

Kidero noted that the last 18 months have been challenging especially because of lack of funds, “due to the huge debts inherited from the defunct City County.”

“However, the NCCG intends to develop innovative instruments for debt resolution and release revenue generated for implementation of projects as contained in our integrated urban development master plan.”

The governor said the Public Service Board will be announcing the commencement of the recruiting process to fill the two affected departments in due course.

He added that going forward; the Nairobi County Government will focus on effective use our resources.
“This includes our employees in delivering the required services as contained in my seven pillars. This remains our driving force,” he stated.
