NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 19 – A four-wheel drive vehicle was intercepted at the Kenya-Ethiopia boarder as it tried to cross into Kenya laden with explosives on Saturday.

Kenya Defence Forces under AMISOM together with Somali National Army intercepted the vehicle with Kenyan registration plates as it attempted to cross the border into Kenya at Dolo-Ethiopia through Moyale.

The occupants opened fire at the security forces who responded killing five of the vehicle’s occupants. Inside the car were six suicide vests and 100 kilos of TNT explosive.

Security forces were working on reliable intelligence which enabled them to trace the car.

Earlier on, the terrorists had unsuccessfully attempted to gain entry into the country at Bulahawa through Mandera.
