NAIROBI, Kenya, Sept 19 – The trial of Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama and his co-accused over the sale of Malili Ranch has been suspended.

The trial magistrate halted the case after she was informed that the High Court had blocked their prosecution a day before they were arraigned in court.

Muthama and former Permanent Secretary Bitange Ndemo are among six people who were charged in court last month over the land scandal.

The others were former Commissioner of Lands Zablon Mabea, two directors of Malili Julius Kilonzo Maweu and Julius Mbau Nzyuko and a member of the National Police Service Commission Ronald Musengi.

All the six denied six abuse of office, theft and fraud charges before the anti-corruption court chief magistrate Doreen Mulekyo on August 29.
