In a statement, the commission’s chairman Issack Hassan says interested candidates have until September 5 to submit their applications.
“Pursuant to the provisions of Articles 248(2), 250(12) and 252(1) (C) of the Constitution of Kenya and sections 10(1), 11 and 12 of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Act 2011, the Commission hereby invites applications for the position of Commission Secretary/Chief Executive Officer,” the advert reads.
Oswago’s term is ending in three months time even though he is facing charges in court.
“The recruitment of the Commission Secretary/CEO position has nothing to do with the fact that Mr Oswago and other senior IEBC officials are facing court charges. Indeed, Oswago is eligible to re-apply for the position,” IEBC Communications Manager Tabitha Mutemi explained.
Among other qualifications, applicants must be Kenyan citizens, holders of degree from recognised universities and have five years experience in management level.
The applicants must also have integrity clearance from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Chief Executive Officer of the Higher Education Loans Board and Credit Reference Bureau Africa Ltd or Metropol Credit Reference Bureau.
“Interested candidates are requested to submit their duly completed IEBC application form together with an up-to-date curriculum vitae, copies of certificates and testimonials, email and telephone contacts together with names, telephone and email contacts of three referees who must be familiar with the candidates previous work experience,” the chairman said.
A chief executive at the commission shall hold office for a term of five years and is eligible for re-appointment for one further term of five years.
