NAIROBI, Kenya, Aug 20 – Major-General (Rtd) Gordon Kihalangwa has replaced Jane Waikenda as the Director of Immigration.

Waikenda was appointed Deputy Head of Mission at Kenya’s High Commission in Pretoria, South Africa in recent changes announced by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Presidential Spokesperson Manoah Esipisu in a statement said Kihalangwa, who holds a PhD in International Studies and Diplomacy, “is a dedicated and disciplined officer whose loyalty, integrity and competence are beyond reproach.”

He also pointed out that the retired Major-General also has a, “wealth of experience in both security services and people management,” having served and risen up the ranks of the Kenya Defence Forces.

And his appointment Esipisu continued to state, would, “greatly strengthen the nation’s policing and control of its boarders as well as internal security.”

Kihalangwa served as head of the Military Police and Assistant Chief of Defence Forces responsible for personnel and logistics at Defence Headquarters.
