NAIROBI Kenya, July 14 – A Sunday school teacher was on Monday jailed for life for defiling a 10-year-old girl.

George Kariuki Muturi was found guilty by the Nakuru Resident Magistrate Rita Amwayi of defiling the minor who was one of the learners in his class.

The offence was committed on July 10, last year at Maili Tatu village in Njoro within Nakuru County.

The court heard how Muturi tricked the child to go to his house where he defiled her and threatened her with murder if she told anyone about the incident.

While delivering her ruling, Amwayi said the minor had clearly narrated how her instructor ordered her to shower with cold water immediately after the heinous act.

Amwayi observed that the seven witnesses who testified in court corroborated their evidence and proved that the offence was committed.

She wondered how a person who was supposed to take care of the children could act contrary to his calling noting that Muturi took advantage of his position to defile the innocent child.
