NAIROBI, Kenya, July 17 – Governor Alfred Mutua has now agreed to face anti-corruption detectives probing alleged procurement irregularities in Machakos County.

This follows consent entered between his lawyers, the Attorney General, Director of Public Prosecutions and those representing the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission.

Mutua will now a record statement on July 25 at an undisclosed location, following the consent agreed before Justice Isaac Lenaola.

Mutua had earlier objected to recording the statement, saying the probe was politically motivated.
