NAIROBI, Kenya, May 20 – Traders hurriedly closed down shops in Nairobi’s Central Business District on Tuesday as university students poured into the capital’s streets to protest over a controversial fee hike.

The students from various campuses took to the streets but remained largely peaceful.

There were various groups demonstrating towards Jogoo House where the students intend to hand over a petition to Education Cabinet Secretary Professor Jacob Kaimenyi.
