NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 1 – As the public transport crisis bites on Tuesday morning, the Nyumba Kumi initiative has launched a two-pronged campaign that will get people to work and get to know their neighbours.

The team is urging those with private vehicles to ferry their neighbours to work, for a reward of a full tank of fuel.

Neighbours who car pool are only required to share their names and house numbers on a piece of paper, which is to be presented by one of them to the Nyumba Kumi offices for the instant reward of a fuel voucher.

The Nyumba Kumi team says this is a perfect opportunity for people to know and interact with their neighbours, to overcome the transport crisis and also decongest roads.
