The winners of the 21 kilometre race were each awarded Sh200,000.
In the men’s category, Kiprono was followed by Decleck Omar in second position and Kevin Kochei who completed the podium finish. The women’s podium was comprised of Mosop followed by Winfridah Kwamboka and Mary Wangechi respectively.
The 21km race was flagged off at the Uhuru Gardens gate on Langata Road, with the finish line stationed inside the historic grounds.
The participants in the run have helped gather over Sh200 million for the First Lady’s Beyond Zero campaign.
Through the campaign, Margaret Kenyatta hopes to raise half a billion shillings in order to purchase a mobile clinic for each of the 47 counties in a bid to eradicate maternal and infant mortality.
She is also expected to run the London Marathon in April in order to raise awareness for the campaign that her husband President Uhuru Kenyatta has termed commendable.
