NAIROBI, Kenya Feb 17 – A trader was arrested at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Monday after importing Viagra tablets worth Sh44 million.

“He was arrested because he did not have an importation permit for the drugs,” Airport CID chief Joseph Ngisa said explaining any such importation must be accompanied by approval certificates from the Pharmacy and Poisons Board.

During interrogations, police said the suspect – a Kenyan national informed – them that he intended to sell the drugs at Sh100 per tablet.

Police said they were finalising investigations to arraign the suspect in court on Tuesday.

“He will be at the Makadara Law Courts tomorrow (Tuesday) morning,” Ngisa said.
