Meanwhile, MPs Ken Okoth (Kibra) and Dave Ochieng (Ugenya) were heckled by party supporters who had camped at Orange House, who claimed that the duo was part of a group that was rocking the party from within over the February 28-March 1 national party elections.
“We are also waiting for (Ndhiwa MP Aghostinho) Neto so that we can tell them all to go and form their party with (Rongo MP) Dalmas Otieno. We don’t want ‘kalausi’ here,” said one of the party supporters as they blocked the vehicles belonging to the two MPs from entering the venue.
Kalausi means whirlwind in Dholuo.
The Rongo MP has been blamed of crusading for the formation for a new party to rival ODM in Luo-Nyanza.
The former Public Service Minister is reported to have dropped his ambition to contest the leadership position in the upcoming ODM elections after Odinga allegedly summoned and warned him against the move.
Since announcing his withdrawal, the once close ally of the former Prime Minister has become critical of his boss, accusing him of imposing his preferred candidates on the party leadership against the will of majority members.
ODM Executive Director Magerer Langat was forced to leave the meeting and appeal for calm among the party supporters camping outside.
