NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 28 – Elections for the Orange Democratic Party were thrown into disarray on Friday afternoon after a group demanded the production of registers, before turning violent.

The situation became chaotic after the group led by nominated Member of Parliament Issac Mwaura demanded that the polls take place using party registers to ensure only bonafide delegates voted.

Mwaura was pulled down from the podium before the same group that appeared to be restoring order turned on the tables where the ballot boxes were kept.

They overturned the tables and kicked the ballot boxes in under 5 minutes, bringing the process to a halt.

Party Leader Raila Odinga was seen walking away as outgoing Secretary General Anyang’ Nyong’o attempted to restore order.

Anti-Riot police were called into the Kasarani Gymnasium to calm the situation.
