The council discussed the overall security situation in the country/PSCU

NAIROBI, 15 Oct – President Uhuru Kenyatta chaired a National Security Council (NSC) meeting at State House, Nairobi on Tuesday.

The council discussed the overall security situation in the country.

It reviewed the latest in the investigations on Westgate as a well as other security hotspots and agreed to step up security measures so that Kenyans are safe wherever they are.

The Council comprises Defence Cabinet Secretary Raychelle Omamo and her Interior counterpart Joseph ole Lenku, Attorney-General Githu Muigai, Secretary to the Cabinet Francis Kimemia and Interior Principal Secretary Mutea Iringo.

Others are Chief of Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Gen Julius Karangi, Director-General of the National Intelligence Service, Michael Gichangi and Inspector-General of the National Police Service, David Kimaiyo.
