According to the prosecution, Uasin Gishu and Nandi districts bore the brunt of the attacks.

In Rift Valley, 230 people were killed, 1,000 others were injured and there were displacements of 400,000 others after 52,000 houses were destroyed in the massive attacks.

In Uasin Gishu District, over 200 people were killed, 500 others injured and 7,800 others were displaced.

In Nandi, 7 people died, 500 others were injured and 30,000 others were displaced in the attacks that left 400 houses and businesses burnt into ashes.

The DCC also indicates that between 17 and 35 people who had gone to seek refuge at the Kiambaa Assembly of God Church were burned to death on January 1, 2008.

The prosecution alleged that after presidential results were announced on December 30, Sang during his show at Kass FM incited and coordinated perpetrators to begin the attacks using coded language.

He was further said to have informed the perpetrators where the attacks would be carried out.

He is further accused of receiving updates from the perpetrators and given instructions of the next attacks.

Apart from Kass FM raising funds to sustain the attacks, Ruto is also alleged to have financially supported them.

Ruto was also said to have pledged the direct perpetrators immunity from the crimes they had committed.

The prosecution alleges that Sang and Ruto were liable for the ‘widespread and systematic attacks’ in Rift Valley.

On Tuesday, the two will be at The Hague to begin the three charges of murder, forcible transfer and persecution following the attacks in Rift Valley.
