The plane carrying the President and his entourage touched down at Moi International Airport Mombasa shortly after 4pm and was received by Deputy President William Ruto, senior government officials and Coast leaders.
The President inspected a guard of honour mounted by a detachment of the Kenya Navy before being entertained by troupes of choirs and traditional dancers.
President Kenyatta’s first State visit to China reaped hefty packages, including support to infrastructure development and combating wildlife poaching in the country.
In Beijing, the President witnessed the signing of bilateral agreements between Kenya and China worth $5 billion (Sh425 billion).
The agreements cover economic partnerships, wildlife protection and the construction of a standard gauge railway linking the Port of Mombasa to the border town of Malaba.
While in Russia, the President held talks with the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation and secured the commitment of the Russian Government to assist Kenya access fertilizer directly from Russian producers without going through middlemen.
The President also made a stop-over in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), where he discussed Kenya’s trade agenda with officials in Dubai.
President Kenyatta will on Wednesday attend the 2nd Head of States and Governments Infrastructure Summit at Sarova Whitesands Hotel in Mombasa County.
Presidents Paul Kagame of Rwanda, Yoweri Museveni of Uganda, Pierre Nkurunziza of Burundi and Salva Kiir of South Sudan are expected to attend the summit.
The summit is a follow up to the first one held in Entebbe, Uganda, in June this year which resolved to strengthen the East African infrastructure network, among other initiatives, aimed at enhancing cross-border trade as well as deepening the integration of the East African economies.
The President will also officially open the Mombasa International Show on Thursday and attend to a host of national priorities in the Coast region.
