NAIROBI, Kenya, May 6 – Former Nairobi Town Clerks John Gakuo and Tom Odongo are among a 10-member County Executive Committee unveiled by Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero on Monday afternoon.

Odongo who holds a Masters Degree in Urban Planning from Oxford Brookes University has been given the Lands, Housing and Physical Planning docket while Gakuo who has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government from Nairobi University has been assigned to handle the Water, Energy, Forestry, Environment and Natural Resources department.

Others appointed include Gregory Silvanus Mwakanongo in Finance and Economic Planning, Anna Othoro in Trade Industrialization, Co-operative Development and Tourism and Anna Kamais in Agriculture, Livestock Development and Fisheries.

“For Public Works Roads and Transport ladies and gentlemen, I present to you Eric Mokua Arita. Mokua is a graduate of Commerce from Shijavi University and also holds a Masters degree in Strategic Management from United States International University,” Kidero stated.

“For Water, Energy, Forestry, Environment and Natural resources is a man who does not need to be introduced, John Gakuo. Gakuo is a holder of a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and Sociology from the University of Nairobi, as well as having undertaken various courses in Singapore, Harvard, John Kennedy and Eastern and Southern Institute,” he said.

Kidero further unveiled the Public Service Commission to be chaired by architect Philip Kungu and consisting also of the secretary and three nominees.

“Board Member number one is Josephine K Gichuhi. Josephine is a former public health officer with a rich work experience that spans over 30 years. Her most recent assignment in public service was as a Commissioner, Public Service Commission of Kenya from where she retired in 2011,” he stated.

“Board member number two is Maurice Mutinda Wambua. Maurice is currently the Deputy chief operating officer at Fedha Africa Limited and has over 13 years of experience which has seen him serve as a graduate trainee at KK security Group, HR Manager at Express Kenya Ltd and later rising to be Regional head of HR at the same company before his present position,” he said.

The governor further named his Economic, Legal, Political advisors and Chief of Staff in addition to an eight member transition team to the county.

“Interim County Secretary, Lillian W Ndegwa, Interim Chief Officer, Finance, Jimmy Kiamba, Interim Head of Accounting, Philomena Nzuki, Interim Head of Budgeting and Expenditure, Stephen Osiro,” he said.

1). Tom Odongo (Lands, Housing and Physical Planning): Holds a Masters in Urban Planning from Oxford Brookes University. He has 33 years experience as Assistant Director of City Planning, Director of City Planning and Town Clerk.
2). John Gakuo (Water, Energy, Forestry, Environment and Natural Resources) : A holder of a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and Sociology from the University of Nairobi, as well as having undertaken various courses in Singapore, Harvard, John Kennedy and Eastern and Southern Institute.
3). Gregory Silvanus Mwakanongo (Finance and Economic Planning): Holds a Masters in Finance from the University of Nairobi. He is a certified Public Accountant (K) and also holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree.
4). Ann Othoro (Trade Industrialisation, Co-operative Development and Tourism): Holds a Bachelor of Sociology and Philosophy from the University of Nairobi. She also has a Masters in Business Administration from USIU and is a member of the Marketing Society of Kenya.

5). Anne Kamais (Agriculture, Livestock Development and Fisheries): Holds a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science from the University of Nairobi and is currently undertaking her Masters in business Administration at the University of Nairobi.

6). Mercy Wambui Kamau (Public Service Management): Holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Nairobi, a Post Graduate Diploma from the Kenya School of Law, and Certificate in women empowerment from Georgia University, Masters in International relations from the University of Nairobi and a Master of Laws from the University of Nairobi.

7). Eric Mokua Arita (Public Works, Roads and Transport): Graduate of Commerce from Shivaji University and also holds a Masters degree in Strategic Management from USIU.

8). Mohammed Abdullahi (Information, Communication and E-Government): He is a holder of a Diploma in Human Resource Management from the Railways Training Institute and is also a holder of a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa.

9). John Kennedy Wanyama (Education, Youth Affairs, Culture, Children and Social Services): Is a holder of a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from Kenyatta University. He has worked as Group Credit Controller at Kenol/Kobil and as Director of Strategic Partnerships at Silvertone Group of Companies.

10). Timothy Moki Kingondu (Health Services): Is a Bachelor of Medicine holder from the University of Nairobi, Masters in International Medicine from London University and respiratory Medicine from New York University.
