NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 18 – A former advisor to the Prime Minister, Miguna Miguna, now claims that his life is in ‘serious danger’ just two days after he launched another controversial book.

Miguna, in a statement to Capital FM News requested that police give him additional security following his concerns.

“I wish to reiterate that my life is in serious danger. I am asking the police to provide me with 24-hour security,” Miguna said, hours after reports on social media claimed that he had been arrested following a scuffle with one of his workers and was in police custody.

When contacted on phone by Capital FM News, Miguna denied the arrest claims. “You are talking to me… do I sound like I am in custody?”

He later sent a statement saying: “I am not just entitled to protection by the police, I am also protected by the law to protect myself,” he added.

He says that powerful individuals wanted to use one of his workers to poison him but that the plot failed.

Miguna says he learnt of the plot to poison him on Sunday night from a nephew.

Additionally Miguna claimed that the worker was offered gadgets to tape all his telephone conversations, including those with third parties who visited his Runda home then report to their ‘masters’.

Miguna says he had already terminated the services of the worker whom he claims was to be paid up to Sh1 million. He has denied reports of any scuffle with the worker as alleged on social media.

“At about 7:10am, I terminated (her) employment in writing and paid her the monthly salary of Sh10,000 even though her pay is not due up to the end of February this year. She signed the termination letter voluntarily. There was no physical contact between me or my nephew and her,” he insisted in the statement.

“When I asked her to put her things in a vehicle so that my nephew, who was present throughout could drop her at the bus stop, the lady refused. Instead of allowing my nephew to give her a free ride, she walked away and left the compound,” he added.

The worker walked to Runda police station Monday morning and claimed Miguna had assaulted and chased her from his home.

It was then that a team of CID officers from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) was sent to the compound to establish the truth of the matter and quizzed him for almost an hour before leaving.

Miguna however claims it was he who called the area police chief Patrick Mwakio who responded within one hour, accompanied by the DCIO.

On Saturday, Miguna unveiled yet another explosive book titled ‘Kidney’s for the King’ which largely focuses on CORD’s presidential candidate Raila Odinga and his cronies, questioning their leadership qualities.
