16 recommended to serve in Appeals Court

NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 7 – the Judicial Service Commission has forwarded names of 16 individuals for appointment as Court of Appeal judges.

The commission advertised the positions on July 27, 2012 before applicants went through a competitive recruitment process.

Those recommended for appointment include sitting judges, according to a statement released by JSC secretary Gladys Shollei.

Those recommended for appointment include Justice John W. Mwera, Justice Mohamed A. Warsame, Justice G.B.M. Kariuki, lawyer Patrick O. Kiage who has acted as a Special State prosecutor, Steven Gatembu Kairu, Kathurima M’Inoti and Lady Justice Philomena M. Mwilu.

Others are city lawyer Agnes Kalekye Murgor, Justice A. Makhandia, Justice William Ouko, Justice Daniel K. Musinga, Fatuma Sichale who served in the former Kenyan Anti Corruption Commission, Jamila Mohammed, Odek James Otieno, Justice Festus Azangalala and Sankale ole Kantai.

The judiciary has embarked on an aggressive recruitment process that has seen several judges appointed t o the High Court, Industrial Court and more recently the Environment And Land Court.
