Dry taps in Nairobi from Thursday to Friday

NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 18- Nairobi is to suffer a major water supply interruption from Thursday as the Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company conducts emergency repairs of the main valve in Gigiri reservoir outlet.

A statement from the Managing Director Philip Gichuki said there would be no water in most parts of Nairobi from 8am Thursday to Friday 6pm.

The areas to be affected would be the whole of City Centre, University of Nairobi main campus, Nairobi Bottlers, Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and EPZ Athi River.

“Whilst every effort will be made to restore the supply of water as soon as possible, we request all customers in the affected areas to use water sparingly during the period of interruption,” Gichuki appealed.

Other areas to be affected by water interruption, he said, would be along Mombasa Road that is South B, South C and the surrounding areas, the whole of Industrial area, along Juja road- Mlango kubwa, whole of Mathare, Eastleigh Airforce base, Huruma, Kariobangi,  and  Eastleigh.

On Jogoo road, Maringo estate, Buruburu and the surrounding estates and Bahati would be affected while on Outer- ring road Babadogo, Dandora, Dandora KCC factory, Umoja, Kayole, Komarock, whole of Ruai area, Donholm, Fedha, Tassia and Avenue Park.

Kenya Breweries, Kenyatta University, Kahawa Barracks, Kasarani, Mwiki, Kahawa Sukari, Garden Estate and Thome are areas along Thika Superhighway that would be affected while on Limuru road, Parklands, Aga Khan Hospital, University of Nairobi School of Law and City Park area would also be without water.

The whole of Karen and areas along Naivasha road including Mountain View estate, Uthiru and its environs would also be affected by the emergency repair works.
