NYAHURURU, Kenya, Nov 8 – A Nyahururu court was told on Monday how 70-year-old man defiled a 13-year-old teen after he allegedly deceived her to get into his house to fetch him water.
A neighbour to the victim who rescued her upon hearing her screams, Susan Mwihaki, told the court of how she found the septuagenarian with his trousers unzipped after allegedly committing the act to the girl.
Ms Mwihaki was testifying before Resident Magistrate Daniel Musyoka in a case in which Mzee John Wachira Gathera had denied defiling the minor on May 23 this year at Maina Village in Nyahururu municipality.
She said they were shocked to find the old man with pants down while the distraught teen lay on his bed inside the one-roomed house after they forced the door open.
Earlier the minor had told the court that the old man tricked her together with a colleague as they were coming from drawing water at a well when he asked them to take one jerry can to his house.
Amid tears, she alleged that the man grabbed her while she was emptying the water from her jerry can, pinned her on his bed where he committed the heinous act.
She said her screams prompted her colleague to act by calling for help from neighbours.
The hearing continues on November 30. Mzee Gathera has been released on a bond of Sh100, 000.
