Major roads to be closed in Nairobi on Friday

NAIROBI, Kenya, Aug 24 – Major roads in Nairobi will be closed between 3am on and 1pm on Friday for the promulgation of the new Constitution at Uhuru Park.

Nairobi Traffic Commandant Patrick Lumumba announced on Tuesday that Uhuru Highway, Valley Road, Ngong Road and Haille Sellasie Avenue will remain closed.

Police are advising motorists from Mombasa Road to access the city centre through Lusaka and Landhies Roads.

Motorists from Westlands will divert at Museum Hill roundabout and go through Ojijo road and Kipande road into globe cinema roundabout. Those coming from Ngong road will branch off at Nyerere road and access the city from University way.

Mr Lumumba said Cathedral Road and City Hall Way will also be closed and motorists are advised to use alternative routes until they are opened at 1 pm.
