Kenyan girl defiled and killed

NYAHURURU, Kenya, Aug 9 – A 10-year-old girl was repeatedly defiled and murdered on Monday at Gathanji village in Nyandarua West district.

Residents woke up to find the body of the standard three girl in a maize plantation with blood oozing out from her private parts and mouth.

The girl had been reported missing on Sunday afternoon prompting residents to mount a search for her.

The Nyandarua divisional police chief Jasper Ombati who confirmed the incident said that residents found her without clothes deep inside the maize plantation while her hands were tied from behind.

He said that it was not immediately established who defiled the minor from Mwenja Primary School adding that investigations have launched into the matter.

“We have launched investigations to establish those behind this heinous crime. Police are following crucial leads into the matter,” said Mr Ombati.

He decried the rising cases of defilement in the area which have occurred in the last one month.

Over 10 defilement cases have been reported in Nyandarua in the last one month raising concerns over the matter. The police boss called on parents to be on the lookout and ensure that their children are always in safe environments.

Ol-Kalou MP Erastus Mureithi who visited the scene condemned the incident and demanded that perpetrators of the act be apprehended.
