Mourinho never visited jujumen in Kenya

LISBON, Jul 20 – A spokesman for Jose Mourinho strongly denied on Monday that the \’Special One\’ had sought the help of four Kenyan jujumen as he prepared to start his new job as coach of Real Madrid.

"I categorically deny this stupid and unbelievable story…which is an attempt to damage the image and professional credibility of Mourinho," Elado Parames told AFP, adding that the Portuguese was now considering legal action.

"Mourinho never talked to this person," said Parames, who accompanied the Real coach and his family on the holiday to Kenya earlier this month when the meeting with the jujumen is alleged to have taken place.

On Sunday, Mzee Makthub, a reputed Mombasa medicineman, who has acted as a consultant to many politicians and football officials, told AFP that the 47-year-old Mourinho had been to see him and three of his colleagues to ask for assistance.

"He asked us to help him succeed in his new job," said Makthub. "Mourinho said he was taking a tough assignment at Real Madrid and he wanted to earn the respect of the people he was going to work with."

Parames insisted that Mourinho, who led Inter Milan to a European and domestic treble last season, was not the kind of man to seek help from a jujuman.

"Jose Mourinho is profoundly Catholic and he believes in God," said Parames. "In matters that concern his professional life, he believes in hard work and not in the miracles of any old sorcerer."
