LJUBLJANA, Apr 19 – Slovenia will keep its airspace open until 8:00 pm (18H00 GMT) after reopening it temporarily at 6:00 am (0400 GMT) on Monday following a two-day closure, authorities said.
Earlier, the transport ministry had said the airspace was clear for flights until the early afternoon, but the situation would be re-evaluated in view of the possibility of a new cloud of volcanic ash coming from Iceland.
In a statement subsequently published on its website, the civil aviation directorate at the Transport Ministry then announced that "Slovenia\’s airspace will remain open until 8:00 pm" after which the situation would be re-evaluated again.
Slovenia closed its airspace on Saturday as part of a Europe-wide shutdown, but re-opened it partially on Sunday afternoon for fly-overs at low altitudes.
