DAR ES SALAAM, March 13 – A Tanzanian court on Friday jailed a man for one year for slapping a former president who was promoting condom use during celebrations to mark Prophet Mohammed’s birthday.
Ibrahim Said, 26, was charged with assault and pleaded guilty to slapping Ali Hassan Mwinyi, whom he accused of promoting a promiscuous lifestyle.
Said, a Muslim, told the court the sentence was "just and came from the Almighty God."
