NAIROBI, August 1 – Public Health Minister Beth Mugo Friday appointed Dr Nicholas Muraguri to head the National AIDS and STI’s Control Programme (NASCOP) replacing Dr Ibrahim Mohamed who was moved to head the department of disaster management.

Dr Muraguri was previously the head- division of health promotion at the ministry.

He told Capital News that this was part of a reshuffle that was aimed at setting proper structures at the new ministry of public health.

“Let me take office first and then I can tell you what my priorities will be,” he said.

Six other departments were created and their heads appointed.

They include Disease control, Environmental health, Family health, Sector planning and policy and primary health care.

Division of health promotion was also made a department.

NASCOP was previously under the Ministry of Health but was moved to Public Health after the split of the Health ministry early in the year.
