{"id":3289,"date":"2011-06-06T12:14:00","date_gmt":"2011-06-06T12:14:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.capitalfm.co.ke\/?p=3289"},"modified":"2011-07-18T13:39:12","modified_gmt":"2011-07-18T13:39:12","slug":"the-spirit-of-rhino-charge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.capitalfm.co.ke\/lifestyle\/2011\/06\/06\/the-spirit-of-rhino-charge\/","title":{"rendered":"The Spirit of Rhino Charge 2011"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>June 6, 2011 &ndash; It&rsquo;s hard to believe that 22 years ago Rhino Charge only raised Ksh 200,000. &nbsp;23 off-roading challenges later, Rhino Charge 2011 marks another record-breaking year raising Ksh 77,311,364 (Ksh 5 million more than last year).<\/p>\n<p>Rhino Charge is known for being one of the most challenging off-roading experiences set in the unforgiving terrain of the Kenyan bush. &nbsp;The 2011 edition of Rhino Charge was situated in Baringo where the terrain was extremely rocky with pockets of thick bush. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.capitalfm.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/files\/RHINOCHARGE1_801547228.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"RHINOCHARGE1_801547228.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #993366\">Photo Credits:<\/span><\/strong> Susan Wong<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;&ldquo;Extremely rocky and challenging. &nbsp;This is definitely the toughest Rhino Charge ever,&rdquo; said &nbsp;Dominic Rebello of Car No. 41.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Many drivers echoed Rebello&rsquo;s sentiments about how tough the course was.<\/p>\n<p>Aside from the adrenaline-packed action, scenic views, putting your bush craft to the test, battling thorns and insects, engine failure, punctures, holed radiators, and driving without brakes &ndash; just to name a few; Rhino Charge is also a time to reflect on our dwindling resources and how the community can conserve them.<\/p>\n<p>After the successful completion of the Rhino Ark Aberdare Electric Fence Project, &nbsp;Rhino Ark&#8217;s efforts to protect the &ldquo;water towers&rdquo; of Kenya continue with fencing projects in Mt. Kenya and Mau Eburu.<\/p>\n<p>The Mt.
