As Kenya commemorates 60 years of independence, the nation reflects on a journey characterized by resilience, growth, and its increasingly prominent role on the global stage. From humble beginnings with just four embassies in 1963, Kenya has expanded its diplomatic footprint to include 68 missions worldwide, steadfastly championing its national interests and fostering impactful international partnerships.
To honor this milestone, the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs has organized a series of public events and activities under the banner 60th Anniversary Celebrations of Kenya’s Diplomatic Journey, running from November 26 to December 7, 2024.
On Wednesday, the Ministry hosted a Diplomatic Golf Challenge and Reception at the Royal Nairobi Golf Club, uniting diplomats, government officials, and key stakeholders. The event culminated in an evening celebration that featured reflections on Kenya’s extraordinary diplomatic accomplishments and a tribute to its unwavering dedication to unity, dialogue, and impactful global engagement.

The Chief Guest, Hon. Musalia Mudavadi, Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, led the celebrations, emphasizing Kenya’s dedication to advancing its citizens’ well-being while remaining a proud global citizen. “This event was more than a game, it was a testament to how far we’ve come as a nation, embodying the progress and partnerships that have defined six decades of Kenyan diplomacy. As we commemorate this milestone, we are reminded that Kenya’s achievements are built on collective effort. Together, we continue to strengthen bonds, celebrate our shared success, and strive toward an even brighter future.”
The evening, enriched by camaraderie and lively discussions, vividly illustrated Kenya’s six-decade journey of diplomacy and leadership. Through its enduring efforts, Kenya continues to uphold values of mutual respect, dialogue, and unity, ensuring its voice is heard and its impact felt on the global stage.
Prime Cabinet Secretary Hon. Musalia Mudavadi highlighted the Ministry’s upcoming inaugural Open Day on November 29 at the Ministry Headquarters Car Park as one of the key events. He encouraged the public to attend and learn more about the services offered by the Ministry.
