Crowne Plaza Nairobi Airport adds a Tapas Menu to their culinary experience

A tapas menu has been added by Crowne Plaza Nairobi Airport Hotel to complement its present bar selection.

The inclusion of tapas to the bar menu, according to Crowne Plaza Nairobi Airport General Manager Barnabas Wamoto, was motivated by the social ritual of sharing delectable food and beverages in a relaxed setting that is associated with Spanish cuisine.

“Crowne Plaza Nairobi Airport is at the cutting edge of the culinary world,” noted Mr. Wamoto. “Our goal is to evolve the bar menu by striking a delicate balance between continuing to serve our loyal guests and attracting new ones.”

Adding that, as part of Crowne Plaza Nairobi Airport’s commitment to create a more premium experience for its customers, the addition of the tapas menu into the velocity and rooftop bars of Crowne Plaza Nairobi Airport will spike the great unwinding experience that the two bars are known for.

This addition comes at a time when the hotel, recently crowned as the best luxury airport hotel in Africa in the 2022 World Luxury Hotel Awards, is celebrating five years of being in operation as the first airport hotel in Kenya.

In the hands of a chef who grasps the challenges and possibilities of the form, a tasting menu can yield a succession of delights that a shorter meal could never contain. Making each course as different as possible from the last is not just a chance for chef to show off; it’s necessary to keep the diner’s attention.

During this epic evening at Crowne Plaza in Nairobi, I was often amazed by the way the Head Chef coaxed extra flavor from his ingredients through ancient means like dry-aging, curing, fermenting, smoking and grilling over fire. .

  • Bocadillo

Roasted Chicken, bacon, tomato and pickle tomato, cheese and arugula

  • Carpaccio de Pato Ahumado

Smocked duck carpaccio, pecan nut, mango, feta, and arugula

  • Fried Chicken Burger

A slab of fried chicken thigh with coleslaw

  • Pescado Frito

Sole fritters, homemade paprika spice mix, lemon aioli

Crowne Plaza Nairobi Airport is an upscale full-service hotel conveniently located a 3-minute drive from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport terminals.

The hotel features 144 soundproof rooms all furnished and designed to make sure that guests are well-rested, energized, and ready for the day.

Right after having our main course, the chef treated us to dessert. The taste was simply amazing and the presentation stunned us, definitely a food heaven for the sweet tooth people. Each dessert was made to perfection. We had 3 options for dessert:

1.Hazelnut Mud Cake

Made up of soft Layers of hazelnut dacquoise, a silky smooth hazelnut praline chocolate pastry cream

2.Classic Opera

Layers of almond sponge cake soaked in coffee and ganache

3.Churros

A Spanish deep fried pastry served with chocolate and caramel sauce

As the night came to an end, we enjoyed our drinks and toasted to a beautiful evening. We were grateful for great culinary experience organized by the wonderful people of Crowne plaza and more so the Chefs that are among a growing, nationwide cohort of chefs who have embraced tasting menus while rejecting the most grandiose conventions of the tradition.
