A Picasso Menu Tasting at the Fairview Hotel Nairobi

Food brings people together and that was our case when we experienced an evening tasting a variety of food and paired drinks. Everyone deserves one night during a hectic month where you sit down with your loved ones and enjoy a 4- hour long dinner enjoying a Chef’s special sipping on expensive wine served by a smart suited team who prove that when service is really good, you barely notice it.

In accordance with the fashions of this scattered, unpredictable, increasingly stratified dining age, there is a little something for everyone at the Chef’s table.

Fairview Hotel, a fine dining hotel located in the heart of Upper Hill Nairobi, surrounded with natures tranquility, invited guests to a night at the Chefs table to partake in sampling the exquisite food specially prepared with attention to detail.

For those seeking to escape the standard restaurant experience, the Chefs table lets you up close and personal with each dish. The experience lets you sit or stand beside the chef as he creates a menu from the days best produce, explaining the culinary importance of every ingredient. The good thing about this, you can take some tips home from a professional that will be life changing!

The evening began by meeting at the Hotel’s VIP Lounge for a pre-dinner drink, where we enjoyed a glass of champagne as the manager welcomed us to what was about to be a night full of laughter, great food and networking with the fellow guests.

Here is how the menu followed for the night;

Amuse Bush

To start, this delight was paired with Rosalia Prosecco Treviso

Picked Veg| Orange Reduction

Seared Seabass

Coconut Rice | Tamarind Sauce paired with Ca Del Magro Custoza wine

Trio of Chef’s Dessert

As the evening was coming to an end after hours of fine dining, we were stuffed and happy chatting about the delightful night we have had.

Discovering different wines and how well each goes with specific foods was a welcome surprise while the detail and attention given to each dish is equally impressive.

The wine pairings were a nice touch and for someone who almost always takes red wine, it was pleasant to enjoy different white wines and get a sense of the flavor for each.

Take a seat and anticipate a true taste adventure through the flavors , The menu is an ever changing creation, drawing inspiration from local ingredients that are best each day. You see, hear and smell the experience you taste it. The chef truly exceeded our expectations.

Note: The Chef’s table is open to the public. You can make an exclusive booking with the hotel where you reserve the entire table or a single slot to be part of the experience. The menu is paired with different wines.
